Basilicata - #3 place to visit in 2018

Updated: Jun 7, 2018

Well, we are amazed! Recently, the New York Times has just announced its annual top 52 places to visit in the world and for 2018, #Basilicata has been listed as number 3!

You can read all about it here:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/travel/places-to-visit.html

We're so happy about this as we believe that our wonderful region will finally start to get the attention that it deserves. It's quite amazing to think that only a little more than 50 years ago, the gem of #Basilicata #Matera, was known as 'the shame of all of Italy', little more than a ghetto which was unspoken about, in a region that was forgotten by time. Silvia says that if her Grandparents were still alive and could see their home now, they would not believe it. But it's true and it's all here for you to experience with us and our family.

It's hardly surprising that #Basilicata has achieved this great honour though. Our region is going through a great change and it has many, many wonderful things to offer. From UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Sassi di Matera, to incredible locally sourced food and wine, #Basilicata offers it all against the backdrop of world class scenery and friendly and memorable people.

Matera Vacations

There has literally never been a better time to come and experience the arch of the heel of Italy than now and we're more motivated than ever to create opportunities for people to come and see this special region of #Italy through the eyes of its people.

We want to show you the ancient stone dwellings of #Matera and let you enjoy an aperitivo with a view that will leave you breathless. We want to take you on a journey to our impressive mountains where you can see the locals living a life untouched. We want to take you to ghost towns, beaches, small villages and let you breath the fresh air of the South. We want to share our music and stories with you in a celebration of #Basilicata. We want to let you feast upon our delicious range of home-cooked recipes, fresh produce, unique cheeses and sumptuous wines.

Tours of Basilicata

We want to show you an #Italy Undisturbed.

2018 is the year #Basilicata truly hits the map and we can't wait to welcome you all here.

Number 3 in the New York Times...who would have thought it!?!
